Château de Valcombe Prestige Rouge 2016
|REGION||Costières de Nîmes, France|
Château de Valcombe, family owned since 1749, is the southernmost estate in the Costières de Nîmes. Close to the Mediterranean Sea and planted on soils boasting the highest concentration of limestone in the region, the wines of Château de Valcombe are refined, concentrated and display exuberant freshness.
Following the Second World War, the estate was inherited by Charles Ricome, who replanted most of the vineyards and was among the first to plant Syrah in the appellation.
In 2007, Château de Valcombe was invited by the former French President, Jacques Chirac, to supply wine to the Élysée Palace. This is the first time that a Southern France winery has received such an honor. It shows that Château de Valcombe has been recognized in France.
The dark and intense ruby colour of this wine announces its strong character. Red berry jam, strawberry and dark cherry flavours on the nose, with a touch of cinnamon. On the palate, the wine is full bodied, with a beautiful soft concentration.
