DESCRIPTION
Nestled in the small town of Eichō Beppu, south of Kagoshima, Akayane Craft Distillery is the brain child of Satasouji Shouten.
Aiming at spreading the culture of shochu to the world, they produce a wide range of shochu which fascinate both shochu lovers and beginners. A 2018 collaboration with Distillerie Metté starts a new page in Akayane’s book with the first release of a range of Japanese gins using a shochu base.
TASTING NOTE
Shochu (sweet potato based) infused and distilled with: cherry flowers and leaves, yuzu, matcha, sansho, kombu, juniper berry. First impression of juniper berry and freshly harvested green tea. Complex flavour of cherry flowers and leaves, sansho, yuzu and seaweed. Reminds of Spring (Haru) in Japan.
