DESCRIPTION
Château Lamothe 2013

In 1964, the Fabre family purchased and replanted the vineyard. It is located partly on the commune of Cissac adjacent to Pauillac and partly on the plateau of Vertheuil contiguous with Saint-Estèphe. The gravelly subsoil is covered with a clayey limestone topsoil in some areas and a clayey gravel topsoil in other areas.

Palate: Rich and structured, attractive flavors of warm spice accompany delicate violet and sumptuous blackberry.

Markus Molitor Ürziger Würzgarten Kabinett 2016

The “Ürziger” site is traditionally considered to be a specialty among the Middle Mosel vineyards due to its red iron-rich soil mixed with fine slate. This gives the grapes grown here a totally distinctive character, with spice and opulent fruit as well as a crisp, hearty acid backbone, which produces a tremendously full-bodied wine when combined with emphatic residual sugar.

TASTING NOTE
Château Lamothe 2013

The vintages of Château Lamothe exhibit a dark ruby colour in the first years. Aerating the wine displays a large spectrum of aromas: notes of red (blackcurrant) and jammy fruits associated with soft spices and subtle vanilla . Well-balanced palate with soft tannins and a very delicate finish. Excellent ageworthiness. Cellaring a few years will develop a complex mix of leather, undergrowth and smoky notes.

It opens with a deep, complex and smoky/flinty bouquet of ripe stone fruit aromas, crushed stones and sweet herbal flavours. Silky textured, round and lush, this is a full-bodied, highly elegant, finessed and stunningly complex Wurzgarten Kabinett. Chevalier de Lascombes 2013

The nose reveals black fruit aromas, indicative of the excellent ripeness of this vintage.

A clean entry on the palate. Then, all at the same time, the wine offers concentration, power and elegance. Fruit flavour comes to the fore, while the tannins are already beautifully integrated. The finish is long.
